As a weave solely comprised of warps and wefts, the Stuoia rug is a flatweave where the weaver passes the wefts between each warp from selvedge to selvedge in a series of rows on a four-harnesses loom. While the Stuoia rug tend to be bold and geometric and not as elaborate as piled rugs or other flatweaves with more intricated patterns, it produces a perfectly woven and strong cloth. This weaving technique allows to be playful as far as the color sequence as well as combining multiple materials to obtain sophisticated color nuances and textures.
The Stuoia rug collection is offered in Wool, Cotton and Linen, in a total of 100 exclusive highly-curated dyes to achieve the perfect color tone. Custom colors and sizes are available on request through our bespoke program.
