The Saia rug features a type of weave characterized by its diagonal lines, which are created by an offset in the warp threads. Saia is an ancient weaving technique that can be found today in a wide variety of fabrics thanks to its strength and durability. The Saia pattern consists of a diagonal weave running in a single direction, wherein the weft thread (horizontal) is passed over a warp thread (vertical), and then under two or more warp threads. This creates a pattern of diagonal, parallel ribs also called “wales”. The Saia rug is offered in Wool and available in 32 color options including 29 signature colors as well as three all-natural shades: Écru (W01), Light Brown (W02), Dark Brown (W03). These natural colors are the result of a wool blend created by mixing fleeces from both white and black sheep without using any dyeing process. The Saia rug can be customized with embroideries that can either be part of the design of the rug or become an actual functional stitching to combine two or more panels when the required rug dimensions exceed the width of the loom. Upon request, borders can also be customized and decorated with fringes.
